Great Weekend/Procrastination

What a great weekend. Mine started on Thursday night. A friend from the PI job was on his way through town after graduating into the US Marshalls this week. We went out and celebrated with one of his good friends. Had some dinner and hit a strip joint. There isn't a lot of things that compare to watching the Cardinals get within one win of a world series crown while a stripper was sitting on my lap and a Cubs fan was sitting across the table completely disappointed.

I had to get up Friday morning and go to work on about 2 1/2 hours of sleep, but it was worth it. Friday night, my Redbirds won the WORLD SERIES for the first time that I can remember. They won in '82, but I don't remember that. They broke my heart in '85, '87, and '04. But, this time they pulled through. It was awesome. As an added bonus, I was on the phone with the same Cubs fan for the final out. Poor guy, had been driving through Nebraska for about 6 hours(and with the exception of the few hours out on Thursday, had been driving for 2 days straight) and couldn't get the game to come in on his radio. Then he had to hear what it sounds like to win a championship by listening to fans of his hated rivals going crazy.

Last night was the annual Halloween party. I went as a marionette. It was a very easy costume to make and it was free, as I had the string, a few dowel rods and a coat hanger sitting around the house. There were also a smart ass/dumbass(the couple whose house we were at), their dogs batman and robin(couldn't get any costumes on their cats), a stocking and stocking stuffer, spongebob and patrick, a monkey wrench, a couple of cavemen, a cowboy and cowgirl(their beagle was a horse), an oompa-loompa(new version), a woodsman, and the best costume was King Kong, complete with building and Faye Ray. I hope no one was taking pictures last night, because, if they were I don't remember and could probably be embarassed again. I got a bit wasted and passed out before it was over. This morning when I got up, I couldn't find my bright orange Chuck Taylor Converse anywhere. Turns out a few of the other guys decided to fuck with me and had hid them in the basement a few places.

Now, I am trying to get rid of my massive headache so I can study for a test on Wednesday. This one kinda worries me. I have aced the other two, but there is a formula for figuring out gross profit that is still baffling me. And, I know that if I looked at it right now my headache would increase exponentially.

One Of My All-Time Favorites

I used to read the comics section of the news paper religiously. About 4 years ago, I was reading a comic called GET FUZZY, which I enjoyed and read this one:

It is quit possibly one of my favorites of all time, because, it is not only a great strip but in it you will find a hockey reference, a Pink Floyd poster and if you are observant enough, you may even find Waldo(of Where's Waldo). I loved reading this strip daily, because, I liked the three characters. The man owned the cat and dog. The dog, as you can tell by the above picture, was very stupid and sweet. The cat was ignorant but funny. I cut it out and saved it. Today I found it and finally scanned it into my computer to save digitally.

My Halloween Costume

I am so proud of myself. Normally, the annual Halloween party rolls around and I am figuring out a costume at the last minute. Two years ago, I was Rod Stewart, just to fuck with Steph. I came up with that one a few days before the party. Last year, I was a gigolo. I reused the clothes I had bought for my Vegas trip. I couldn't come up with anything else. This year, however, I have already come up with a costume. The best part, I made it out of stuff I had around the house. FREE. The party isn't for another two weeks.

I can't tell you all what it is yet because, several people who attend the party read this and I like to try to surprise most of them. There will be pictures after the party. I will be hammered that night, as it is the weekend before my birthday. So, the pictures should be entertaining.

I Fell Off The Wagon

Lately, I have been "dieting" and exercising a lot. By dieting, I mean I have been eating less at meal time and have forgone everything but fruit and salad for breakfast and lunch, and I have stopped drinking soda. I also run every other day and am trying to fill in the other days with stretching and some sit-ups and push-ups. It had been working, as I have lost about 20 pounds in the past few months.

On Monday, I got my permanent bridge put in and can finally bite into things. I haven't been able to do that since June. I have had to eat things that can be cut up or ripped up, easily. Last night, I went out to the home opener for the Blues. Beforehand, my friend Joe and I went out to Houlihan's for a pregame dinner. I finally got some buffalo wings after a 3 1/2 month wait, and couldn't stop after just one plate. Then, when I was at the game, about the middle of the second period, I was fiending for my gametime cheesesteak. I figure I probably lost about 2 weeks work by eating so much. I have decided not to weigh myself until next weekend, to give myself opportunity to work it off.

The game was awesome. The Blues and Bruins played like crap for about 50 minutes. The Blues outhit and outshot the Bruins, but, were losing 2-0 going into the last 5 minutes. Then they decided to pick it up. When they started really playing, they looked great. The boys managed to come back and force OT. OT ended in a tie and the Blue won in the shootout. It was definitely the best game I have seen them play in over 2 years.

And, the Cardinals just won game 2 in New York. Unfortuantely, i am sober all weekend due to being on call and I am headed out of town next weekend. So there will be no more drunken Larry pics on the Steph's blog for at least 2 more weeks

There Goes My Career In Politics

The Steph called me last night, laughing her ass off. It seems one of her roomate's friends was taking pictures at her birthday party. I remember the woman takin pics at the baseball game beforehand, but, for the life of me can't remember her with a camera at the party. She has posted a picture of me laying on the floor between her hallway and bathroom. I remember falling down, I remember my friend Lindsay taking a picture of me with her phone, I have no recollection of Alisha taking that horribly embarassing yet truly hillarious snapshot.

Three more weeks to my birthday. Hope it is as much fun.

Z is for ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I slept like a baby last night. I think I slept too well. I am still tired. I needed it though(look both letters working. hehe). I didn't get enough sleep this week.

Looks like I get to buy the drinks. When and where, y'all?

Y is for Yoopers

Who knows what a Yooper is? And, I don't mean the band. Although, they are also Yoopers in the traditional sense. It is how they got their names. Have you ever heard a Yooper speak? Sooooo, fun to listen to.

X is for Strike

As in bowling. When I started warming up, I threw my first ball and got a strike. For those of you who are not bowling enthusiasts, a strike is marked with an X on the scorecard. It was down hill from there. After that, I went threw about 9-10 warm up throws and two and a half games before getting my next one. I love bowling. It is so hard to be consistant, and I guess I just like a good challenge. One of these days I may actually break 200. Although, I have been trying to do that for several months now and haven't gotten close since I bowled a 199 about a month ago.

W is for Wondering

I found myself wondering where some of the residents, living at the facility where I work, come from. Or, more to the point, who they were and how they got there. I deliver stuff to some of the residents on a regular basis and am in the vicinity of their rooms even more. I see family and friends coming in to visit a lot of the rehab patients(they are only at the facility for rehab and then are gone). Some friends and family visit other regular patients. But, there are a few that get no visits at all. Most of them can’t talk or don’t. I wouldn’t ask them questions other than the standard, “How are you?” even if I thought they would answer me. I think that would be presumptuous. I say “Hi” and some of them nod. One even tries to talk to me, but it comes out completely incoherent. They all seem nice. Although, that could be because they can’t get up and it is too hard for them to be menacing on such short notice.

V is for Vodka

Ryan Seacrest loves Vodka. You know how I know? Because, he was drinking it like it was going out of style in my dream last night. Yep, for some reason, I dreamt about sitting next to RS at a bar while he got himself shitfaced on vodka and lemonade. He was drinking it out of the Steph's rum and coke cup. That is all I remember.

Not really on par with some of the Steph's dreams. But, I hardly ever remember dreams. I wonder why I had to waste a remembered dream on RS. Ugh.

U is for Unhealthy

For the last 5-6 years of my life I have been living a very unhealthy lifestyle, with a lot of fast food and a horrible schedule for eating. Thank God, for hockey, otherwise I would be too far gone. Since I started my new job, I have been able to modify my eating habits. I cut back on portions, eat at regular times, and get plenty of exercise, as I walk about 5-7 miles daily while working. I started running this weekend and as of last night I can go about 15 minutes without stop. However, that is at a 9-10 minute mile pace. I want to get down to a 6-7 minute mile pace and be able to run for 1 hour. Wish me luck. I want to be at that pace by January.

T is for Teeth

The saga of my replaced teeth continues. After work yesterday, I had an appointment to have my temporary bridge taken out and my permanent one put in.

I got there, and they popped out my temps. When they got through with about an hour worth of mostly painful work(only slightly numbed and not at all in some spots they were working) the dentist had them put back in my temporaries so he could get my permanent bridge shaded differently. The difference was not at all noticable to me. However, the man is very detail oriented and I figure he knows what he is doing so, I wait one more week to get this ordeal over with.

S is for School Shooting

What is it with school shootings recently. A few weeks ago I read this. Then the Colorado shooting occured. Then there was the Wisconsin shooting last week. While sitting here at lunch, scanning the news of the day, I read this.

Why?

And, I feel really bad about the fact that the first thing to pop into my head was, "I wonder how they called the police?".
