Rollin Right Along

Just a short post tonight. I managed to play roller hockey this evening. For those of you who don't know, it is a faster paced, much hotter version of ice hockey, played 4 on 4 instead of 5 on 5. I realized it is definitely too hot outside to be playing this sport when you are as out of shape as I am(I believe we were in the mid nineties again today). However, this only being my second time back on roller blades in over 2 1/2 years, I really forgot how much more comfortable I am on a roller surface as compared to ice. Ice I really have to work at to get it right whereas on roller blades I put them on and after the first 5 minutes or so I feel like I have been doing it every week(except for the fact that I haven't done much of anything but travel and work the last month or so and have put on whatever weight I managed to lose over the winter). The last time I played, over a month ago, I had twisted my ankle the night before, so I was in pain and not very comfortable. Hopefully, my friend Todd's team will need extra guys next Sunday and I am not working, cuz, the group that I skated with tonight(also thanks to Todd) is taking next week off and I have the itch to play roller some more.

I still like ice more, but, roller is definitely more relaxing for me cuz I can hotdog it a bit and I am comfortable out there.

Oh yeah, side note in the life of Larry. Today, I finally bucked up and got contacts, which I have not had for about six years. I got tired of squinting in the sun all week last week and am too chickenshit to go out and get lasik surgery.

ice skates or rollerblades, I'd still end up on my ass within five seconds.

Erika: Sorry, not yet. Remember, patience is a virtue. I want to have a different job before you see my baby blues. I hope you can understand. "It's a small world after all."

ltlme: I bet you can at least dance without looking like you are having a seizure. I get my grace when skating.

Jen: I am confused.

I'm normally humble, but as one friend puts it on her testimonal for my friendster listing.....I can work a pole like nobody's business! No, I've never stripped....just went to a club when I visited her in wa. that had both a cage and a pole. Odd how I didn't have to pay for a single drink after that.....hrm..... But i wish I could ice skate so i could live out my dream of being the extra disney character on one of those disney on ice deals.....okay, not really, but I still would prefer lasting at least five seconds before feeling my boney ass smack down onto the ice.

Jen: Ah, it has been a while since I have watched one of the most brilliant show ever created but what can you do.

ltlme: If you are ever in St. Louis I am always looking for an excuse to skate.

R: I'm just waiting for you to become prolific so I can link you. Hope things are going good for you guys out in KC. No pic until I change jobs, sorry.

Big Joe: Bring it on, brother, you have never seen me play roller. Can't wait to see you back out there, man.

I'm still waiting for Larry to visit Sunny California.

I cannot skate to save my life. I can to the whole wobble - move forward - wobble - move forward. Anything more advanced finds me on my butt.

Ohhh big lars good enough to play roller Hockey with Todd's team but not big D. I was a star defenseman! After crushing a guy in a non-check league I would look at the ref and say with a confused look "what?". Sure I was old school and played on quads but I could hold my own.

P.S. Ladies, I will sell you a picture of Larry. I will start the bidding at $25.

I also would love to see a pic!

I had contacts for years but got so sick of them. Wore glasses for a year and wasn't really happy with that. Then a friend introduced me to the contacts you can wear 24 hours a day for 30 days. I LOVE THEM!! Contacts are my friends! :)

Come on Larry, I promise I you will never come in contact with me, over work related stuff. I've never been on the wrong side of the law, well, except that thing with the monkey in Toyko. But that was one time, I swear.

Larry, you should totally get lasik surgery. That way, you could wear TWO eyepatches, and we can make TWICE as much fun of you...even if it's only for a day or two. :)

I'm glad you're getting to play more roller hockey. Just stay hydrated. I will never forget the one night at Jamestown Sports Complex - I really thought Todd might die that night. Geez.

ltlme: Let me know.

Callie: Sometime in sept i will be driving up the coast from LA to San Fran and back.

Dougie: The stories I have about contact in a no contact league...$25? You cheap bastard.

Big Joe: Damnit man, what's the hold up? Drink more milk.

Dani: I have to get the extended wear because they are specially made.

Erika: It's not any of you I am worried about.

-G.D.: Thanks.

Steph: Just hope you never hae to lay still for a week and a half or possibly suffer permanant blindness in one eye. I just need to get back to what it was like before march where I was playing as much as I wanted, I'm getting fat again.

you know, have had glasses for as long as i can remember. i wear contacts when i feel like looking pretty but for all those other days, i hide behind my fashionable glasses. they're like an accessory now. if i got lasik, i might feel compelled to put on make up everyday. ick.

Callie I will let you know.

Jazz: By day she is a mild mannered law student in the Big Apple. By night she is STALKER GIRL. Behold the power of glasses.

I just got tired of having to wear glasses all the time. For a long time I couldn't afford both. I like the option.

Glasses make one look thoughtful and intelligent.

After saying that, realize that I only wear my glasses when I'm playing GameCube in the living room on a slow Saturday morning.

I have to wear the darn things for reading but luckly thats all. I do find women that wear them to be very attactive. It must be that sofisticated look that gets me.
Good luck with your contacts. Hope they workout for you.

lowk: They will, I have hasd contacts on several occasions. I just hadden been able to afford glasses and contacts when I was married, and since had been putting off getting them.
