BEAR or BARE

The Steph has been working at a local teddy bear retailer as a second job for several months now. She called me last night to share a story about Javier. When she answered a call last night, no one seemed to be there. As she was about to hang up, a man spoke and said, in spanish, "No habla ingles."(A little spanish that I actually know. Yay for me. Okay back to the story.) The Steph, having studied spanish, on and off over the years, knows a little bit of the language and told the man that she knew a little bit and might be able to help. He asked her name and with the pleasantries out of the way they moved on to business. After a few moments of broken conversation the Steph, not being able to help this man, told him he would have to call back the next day.

The Steph was slightly confused by the call, because it didn't seem like the man wanted a teddy bear, but, then again she couldn't be sure.

Pumpkin Nutz(see sidebar) also works at this retailer and told the Steph that their phone number is only one number off from a phone sex line. To the Steph this explained a lot of the hang ups that they get on a regular basis. And, at this point she realized that she did not have the spanish repertoire to help poor ol' Javier. During our conversation, the Steph had stated that was trying to figure out what number was off in order to redirect all the hang ups. Hysterical laughter ensued as I told her they were probably trying to dial BARE not BEAR and that bad spelling was probably the culprit. Turns out, she had never even thought of that one.
