Getting The Urge

Hahn's Peak, Steamboat, CO 11-12-08

It's snowing in Steamboat, my friend Troy sent me a picture from a mountain cam at Park City(snow covered), and I am now getting that urge...

I need to see if I can sell a kidney. I want to go skiing this year.

By now, I usually have made reservations and am just waiting my turn. This season, there is a trip planned for late February/early March, but I just don't think I will have the money. Since, well, I don't even have the money to pay off school.

Anyone want to donate to the cause? :)

IF I could, I would!

I have high recognition on this topic, my solution is roller-skiing, but, that is only like Nordic skiing

I love Your comments!

(have to rush to my Shotokan karate training ... C U later ;-)

I hope you get to go. Skiing is my idea of hell, but that picture is beautiful. :)

It snowed here in Switzerland at the end of October already and I got the urge too... This will be my first winter after a few years in Australia, so I'm super excited.

You can probably sell your kidney in Mexico, no?

Anna: I think one of the reasons I love skiing and hockey like I do, is that they are similar. You use the same edges on your skates as you do on your skis. But skating has a wider range of movements and the environments that they are performed in are completely different. There is just something about being out in the mountains, careening downhill, through powder and trees...

Jess: That would put me a little closer to my goal, I will not turn you down. However, do not count on my shoddy memory remembering that you gave me a nickle...I might remember $100 bucks though...:P

Jenni: A lot of people say that, but, it's not nearly as bad as you think. Unless it is around 10 degrees or lower and even then it isn't horrible unless it is windy. Getting into the trees helps on those days.

Bettina: I envy you your proximity to great skiing. I hear there is decent skiing in Australia and great skiing in NZ. However, I'm sure when you lived there that it was the same situation I'm in here. Just not close enough to make it affordable. As for selling a kidney in Mexico, I am just as far from that border as I am from any good mountains. The expense of the trip would wipe out the benefits. :(
